Of all the Grady Hendrix books, I have read I am most relate to Horrorstör, because I’ve worked retail and I realize how soul sucking it really is and this way I relate to it so much

I really like the shining and what King did in the book but I also like what Kubrick did in the film they are two different pieces of art, and I appreciate both of them and their artists

picked up White Smoke from this recommendation - holy crap possibly some of the scariest scenes in books i've read just coz of the way they were written! and has such an interesting main character!

My Best Friend's Exorcism is so much fun! I grew up in the 80s so it was so nostalgic! but I think anyone who reads this book no matter the age will enjoy it ☺️

The Haunting of Hill house filled me with such rage. Everyone is so hyped for this "classic". Respectfully, no. It, FOR ME, was not scary and so painfully predictable at the end.

I really love something wicked this way comes because I am a sucker for coming of age stories and the boys in this book are 13 going on 14 and the birthday is Halloween

Gerald Durrell (of My Family and Other Animals fame) compiled a collection of horror stories, I don't remember the name of the book though. One of those stories kept me up at night and terrified of mirrors for a very long time.

Absolutely living for your autumn content, thank you! Also I totally agree about the Shining, it’s the only King novel I’ve read so far but it’s definitely hooked me on his writing. I read it last year and it totally changed my perception of the movie, especially knowing the way Kubrick chose to change certain characters and remove a lot of their agency

I LOVED The Lighthouse Witches! I have The Nesting, and knowing it’s more horror makes me want to pick it up sooner. She does not get enough hype. She does have a new novel, A Haunting in the Arctic. The UK hardback cover is stunning.

As of a couple of weeks ago, I actually finally read The Shining by Stephen King. (This was because I wanted to read 'Doctor Sleep' as I liked the movie adaption of the same book.) Refusing to read IT just yet, because the Shining was my second King novel. 'Haunting of Hill House', 'Youre not suppose to die tonight', 'White Smoke' 'Mexican Gothic', 'Horrostor' & 'Final Girl Support Group' is also on my radar. 'Southern book clubs guide to slaying vampires' & 'How to sell a Haunted House' will be getting read. Sorry to hear you didn't like haunted house. Sour Candy sounds interesting.

Few books actually scare me as well but one that really did scare me was Kill Creek by Scott Thomas because of the vibes and imagery.
How To Sell A Haunted House was also my least favorite Hendrix but I really love Hendrix so so much so it was still good but yea, it was the least of the bunch for me.
